Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer demands voter ID in 1996 House Floor speech
As Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) labels the SAVE America Act, which would require voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote, a clip from the 1990s has resurfaced, showing him demanding voter ID to vote in America, specifically citing the fraud committed by illegal aliens.
“Let’s admit the truth,” he declared. “Everywhere people go, they’re asked for a Social Security card. In fact, one way to prove you’re a bona fide person who can have a job is to ask for a driver’s license and a social security card.”
“This is an anti-fraud amendment,” Schumer added, while speaking in support of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996.
He then took aim at illegal immigration, saying, “All over where we go, people say, ‘Well, why can’t you stop illegal immigrants or others from coming here?’”
“And the number one answer we give our constituents is, when they come here, they can get jobs, get benefits against the law because of fraud,” he said.
Schumer reportedly made these remarks on the House floor in 1996. Now, the Democrats love unvetted illegal immigration and voter fraud.
The White House posted the Following clip, contrasting his past support for a SAVE Act-like bill with his new claims of voter suppression, on Tuesday.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, even far-left hack Jake Tapper called Schumer out on CNN this week, noting that “83% of the American people, including a majority of Democrats, support voter ID laws,” and Schumer lost it.
“What they are proposing in this so-called SAVE Act is like Jim Crow 2.0,” he said, further claiming that the legislation would make it “so hard to get any voter ID that more than 20 million legitimate people—mainly poorer people and people of color—will not be able to vote under this law.”
Schumer’s claims come after the House passed the SAVE Act, sending it to the Senate to be considered before Trump can sign it into law. The legislation faces an uphill battle in the Senate, as not every GOP Senator is fully on board, and the entire Democratic Party is fighting tooth and nail to continue to allow illegal aliens and other forms of fraudulent votes to be counted. The Senate must invoke a standing filibuster to pass the bill with only 51 votes, instead of the 3/5ths required under the “Zombie Filibuster.”
Trump recently signaled that he will sign an executive order to require voter ID and proof of citizenship, saying in a Truth Social post, “If we can’t get it through Congress, there are Legal reasons why this SCAM is not permitted. I will be presenting them shortly, in the form of an Executive Order.”
He further slammed the Democrats as “horrible, disingenuous CHEATERS” and Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries as “Crooked Losers.” “Republicans must put this at the top of every speech — It is a CAN’T MISS FOR RE-ELECTION IN THE MIDTERMS, AND BEYOND!” Trump added.
