CNN’s Kaitlan Collins recently appeared on the Absolutely Not podcast and, while claiming that she and her network are not biased against President Trump and that they cover him fairly, she also admitted that CNN host Kaitlan Collins came to her defense.
During a presidential trip to Saudi Arabia, Collins shared, “I asked a shouted question to President Trump, who had seen me when the US press came in,” Collins said.
“He didn’t answer, which is, I mean, that’s how it works. You shout questions. They either answer or they don’t — it’s their prerogative. And then the world leaders left the room.”
Explaining the Saudi’s dislike of the press, she continued, “The Saudi Royal Guard kind of freaked out because I dared to ask a question, and they’re not used to that there because they don’t have a free press.”
According to Collins, Saudi subsequently tried to stop her from entering the next press event, telling her, “Well you can’t come into the next event,” which she shares was starting two minutes later.
She continued her efforts, telling them, “That’s not how this works, I go in with the U.S. press,” but the Saudis continued to push back.
Levitt, however, came to her defense.
“I could see them like, whispering, and pointing about me and some of the younger White House staff, they are with the press, weren’t really sure what to do, and they went to Karoline.
“And, to her credit, she said, ‘No, Kaitlan’s coming in with the rest of the U.S. press,’ and we went in. And so it didn’t become this huge issue.”
Watch:
Collins has sparred frequently with President Trump and members of his administration.
The Gateway Pundit reported last week that Trump called her “the worst reporter” and attacked her credibility during a heated back-and-forth in the Oval Office over the Epstein files.
“Yeah, what did you say? Go ahead, CNN,” Trump said after finishing his thought as Collins talked over him.
“You are so bad. You are the worst reporter. No wonder CNN has no ratings because of people like you. You know, she’s a young woman. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile. I’ve known you for 10 years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face,” he continued.
“You know, why you’re not smiling? Because you know you’re not telling the truth, and you’re a very dishonest organization, and they should be ashamed of you.”
Collins and Leavitt themselves have butted heads during press conferences, yet Leavitt clearly puts professionalism ahead of politics and will defend members of the American press in a foreign country despite their bias.
