WATCH: Trump Gives One-Word Answer to Calls for Him to Fire DHS Secretary Kristi Noem

President Donald Trump shut down demands from critics to fire Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Tuesday with a simple, decisive “No.”

Democrats have been calling for her resignation or termination over the riots in Minneapolis, during which two agitators have been killed, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, both 37.

Many of them have taken issue with Noem branding the agitators as domestic terrorists.

On Tuesday, a reporter asked Trump if Noem will be resigning.

“No,” Trump responded without hesitation.

The president added, “I think she’s doing a very good job.”

“The border is totally secure,” Trump continued. “You forget, we had a border that I inherited where millions of people were coming through. Now, we have a border where no one is coming through.”

On Monday, Trump dispatched border czar Tom Homan to Minnesota to oversee operations on the ground. Some speculated this was a move to sideline Noem, but it does not appear to actually be the case.

Homan has already met with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Trump told reporters that he hears it went well.

“I hear that’s going very well,” Trump said of Homan’s efforts in the protest-plagued state.

Regarding the shooting of Pretti, Trump told the gathered reporters that there is a “big investigation” underway.

“We’re doing a big investigation. I want to see the investigation. I’m going to be watching over it. I want a very honorable and honest investigation — I have to see it myself,” Trump said.
