US Southern Command announced on Monday that Joint Task Force Southern Spear attacked another drug smuggling vessel in the Eastern Pacific, killing one male “narco-terrorist.”
“Intelligence confirmed the low-profile vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations,” SOUTHCOM said in a statement.
Low-profile vessels like submarines and semi-submersibles have long been used in the narcotics trade. A 2020 Forbes report outlined the types of low-profile vessels used when Trump began offensives on narco-trafficking vessels during his first term. US forces took out a drug-trafficking submarine in October.

President Trump on Monday told reporters at Mar-a-Lago that he plans to order land strikes against Venezuelan cartels. Previously, Trump had floated the idea of striking Colombian cocaine factories and launching strikes into Mexico to stop the cartels, saying, “I would be proud to do it, personally.”
“Drugs are down 96.2% coming into the United States, 92.6 by sea. And soon we’ll be starting the same program on land. The land is much easier,” Trump said.
