‘The girl who would be Duchess’ is a popular story, but ‘the girl who wouldn’t forgive her father’ is timeless drama.
When Meghan Markle ceased being a B-list actress and became the Duchess of Sussex, the eyes of the mainstream media focused on her with the obsessive interest that it demonstrates towards the British Royals, even the outcast ones.
One of the aspects of Markle’s previous life that got a lot of coverage was the fact that she is estranged from her father, Thomas Markle.
And, as his health began to fade, many were left wondering: what will it take to have ‘The Duchess Meghan’ reconnect with her ailing father?

Unfortunately, we now know the answer to that question.
BBC reported:
“The Duchess of Sussex has attempted to contact her estranged father, Thomas Markle, who is reported to be seriously ill in hospital in the Philippines.
A spokesman for Meghan said: ‘I can confirm she has reached out to her father’.
Mr. Markle is reported to have had his leg amputated during surgery. The BBC understands that Meghan tried to contact him earlier today, but it is not clear whether the attempt was successful.”

The relationship between Meghan and Thomas went sour in the run-up to her fairy tale wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
Thomas colluded with photographers for paid photos showing him preparing for the wedding.
“The fallout saw him pull out of his daughter’s wedding just days before the ceremony in Windsor, citing health problems.
King Charles III – who was then the Prince of Wales – walked Meghan down the aisle instead.”

Needless to say, there’s speculation online that no contact (or attempt) was made.
