The two National Guardsmen who were critically injured in Wednesday’s terrorist attack have been identified as a male, age 24, and a female, 20.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro identified both victims during a news conference this morning as Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Andrew Wolfe, 24.
Pirro: We have been in constant contact with their families and have provided them with every resource needed during this difficult time. The two National Guardsmen that we’re talking about are Sarah Beckstrom, who is 20 years old, and Andrew Wolf, who is 24 years old. They were uniformed members of the West Virginia National Guard, and they were in DC to keep DC safe, pursuant to President Trump’s executive order to Make DC Safe and Beautiful. They answered the call, they took the charge, they volunteered. They put their lives on the line for people they don’t even know, and that, unfortunately, is becoming a reality more and more for the members of law enforcement.
Pirro added that both members of the West Virginia National Guard had been sworn in just one day before they volunteered to serve in DC and were shot in the street.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Musselman High School in West Virginia identified Andrew Wolfe on Wednesday night.
“Our Applemen community is deeply saddened to learn that Musselman High School alumnus, Andrew Wolfe, was one of the National Guardsmen injured in the shooting in Washington, D.C. today. Andrew is currently in critical condition and undergoing surgery,” the high school wrote.
“Please keep Andrew, his family, and all those affected in your thoughts.”

The Gateway Pundit reported that the two National Guard members were shot near the White House on Wednesday, causing the White House to come under lockdown.

Officers could be seen tending to and performing CPR on the victims shortly after the shooting.

Vice President JD Vance responded to the news while delivering remarks to troops at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
He called for those in attendance at his speech to “say a prayer for those two National Guardsmen that they’re able to spend Thanksgiving with their families, instead of losing their lives, because I understand they’re still in pretty tough condition.”
The suspect was later identified as 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who entered the country under Biden in 2021. Lakanwal’s permission to be in the US expired in September 2025, and he has been living in the United States illegally ever since. The alien entered under Biden’s “Operation Allies Welcome” program following the botched 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.
President Trump responded to the incident late on Wednesday night, addressing the nation from his Mar-a-Lago home. Trump initially responded earlier, stating that the suspect is also “severely wounded,” along with the military members he shot.
