Rep Elise Stephanik was on “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo to discuss her candidacy for Governor of New York. The Congresswoman called out New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and current Governor Kathy Hochul for their destructive policies.
The video opens with a clip of Mamdani discussing his hope to collaborate with the Governor to implement his socialist policies.
“My next guest, New York Congresswoman Elise Stephanik, is running to unseat Kathy Hochul as Governor of the Empire State next November,” Bartiromo said.
“How will you unseat Kathy Hochul? Give us the plans,” Bartiromo asked.
“First of all, Kathy Hochul is the worst Governor in America. New York ranks number one when you consider how unaffordable New York is. We’ve had the highest taxes in the nation, the highest energy costs, the highest grocery prices, the highest rent. The list goes on,” Stephanik explained.
Stephanik criticized Governor Hochul for supporting Mamdani for New York Mayor and explained his extreme policies which included defunding police and higher taxes.
“She bent the knee to this communist, defund the police, tax-hiking, soon-to-be Mayor of New York City,” Stephanik warned.
“Kathy Hochul said that she would not raise taxes, even though she has a record of doing so, and it took less than one week for her to completely flip-flop and agree to raising taxes on New York, when we are facing an affordability crisis,” Stephanik said.
Bartiromo correctly pointed out that Mamdani’s campaign promises were largely out of his power and that he needed the Governor if he wanted to get his agenda passed.
“Mamdani has made so many promises. He’s promising free buses and freezing the rent, and free everything, but at the end of the day we recognize that he actually does not have the power to do any of that. He needs Kathy Hochul to do this,” Bartiromo said.
“Will she go along with Mamdani and if you were in power come 2027, would you move to take out Mamdani because you have that ability in the charter?” Bartiromo asked.
“First of all, we know that Kathy Hochul will bend the knee. She already did so in her endorsement,” Stephanik said.
“In terms of removing the Mayor from office, of course that is in the New York State Constitution, and I will follow the Constitution,” Stephanik continued.
