President Trump speaks exclusively with Fox News, warning newly elected New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani after his “dangerous” victory speech: “He should be very nice to me.”
President Donald Trump issued a sharp warning to New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani on Wednesday after the radical Democratic Socialist delivered a Marxist-tinged and dangerous victory speech.
Speaking with Bret Baier in an exclusive Fox News interview, Trump slammed Mamdani’s victory speech as “very dangerous” and warned that the self-proclaimed communist better show some respect or face the consequences.
Trump, a lifelong New Yorker who transformed the city into a beacon of success during his pre-presidency days, expressed genuine disappointment in his hometown’s slide into leftist chaos.
Bret Baier:
I want to talk to you about New York City real quick. You’re a New Yorker. You famously had a fight with Ed Koch back in the ’70s and ’80s when he was mayor. He obviously wasn’t a Democratic Socialist, as you call the new mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani, a Communist.
But is there any part of you that looks at Mamdani and says it’s good for you politically to have a big foil there that you’re going to talk about for the next three years?
Trump:
I’m so torn because I would like to see the new mayor do well because I love New York. I really love New York. When I left New York for Washington, New York was doing really well, but there were some bad signs. The bad sign was a guy named De Blasio. So, the signs of De Blasio—that was the beginning, and it was bad.
This one, we’re going to look— for a thousand years, communism has not worked. Communism, or the concept of communism, has not worked. I tend to doubt it’s going to work this time.
The interview zeroed in on Mamdani’s unhinged victory address, which reeked of Marxist venom. Quoting socialist icons like Eugene Debs and India’s Jawaharlal Nehru, who crushed Hindu traditions while empowering radical jihadis, Mamdani sounded more like a revolutionary agitator.
In a direct shot at Trump, Mamdani declared, “So hear me, President Trump, when I say this: to get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.” Trump made it crystal clear that Mamdani’s hostility is a bad move.
Bret Baier:
Did you see his victory speech?
Trump:
Yeah, I thought it was a very angry speech, certainly angry toward me. I think he should be very nice to me. I’m the one that has to approve a lot of things coming to him, so he’s off to a bad start.
Bret Baier:
At one point, he says, “Turn the volume up.”
Bret Baier:
How do you respond to that? Does that affect anything you’re going to do?
Trump:
It’s a very dangerous statement for him to make, actually. You talk about danger— I think it’s a very dangerous statement for him to make. He has to be a little bit respectful of Washington, because if he’s not, he doesn’t have a chance of succeeding.
I want to make him succeed. I want to make the city succeed. I don’t want to make him succeed; I want to make the city succeed. And we’ll see what happens.
Bret Baier:
Do you see yourself reaching out to him?
Trump:
I would say he should reach out to us, really. I think he should reach out. I’m here. We’ll see what happens, but I think it would be more appropriate for him to reach out to us.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that while speaking at the America Business Forum in Miami, President Trump weighed in on his old hometown electing Mandami. Somewhat surprisingly, he offered reassurance to Americans.
While admitting that our nation “lost a little bit of sovereignty” from Mamdani’s victory, Trump said he would take care of the matter and not to worry.
“On November 5th, 2024, the American people reclaimed our government. We restored our sovereignty,” Trump said. “We lost a little bit of sovereignty last night in New York, but we’ll take care of it, don’t worry about it.”
