Charlie Kirk’s Funeral Will Have Super Bowl Level Security, Feds Tracking ‘Several Threats of Unknown Credibility’ from ‘Violent Extremists’

Federal authorities have designated the upcoming funeral for Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, as a Special Event Assessment Rating Level 1, the highest security classification typically reserved for major national events, such as the Super Bowl.

This decision comes in response to reports of several threats of “unknown credibility” against the memorial itself and officials who are attending. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Erika Kirk are all scheduled to speak.

A memo obtained by ABC News warns of lone offenders, domestic extremists, and foreign terror organizations.

“Violent extremists and unaffiliated lone offenders may view the memorial service or related events as attractive attack targets due to the attendance of these individuals, other senior US government officials, state and local government officials, and political activists and due to major international media attention,” the memo issued by agencies including the FBI, Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS), Secret Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), states.

William Mack, the Secret Service special agent in charge of the Phoenix field office, told ABC that “the Secret Service has been designated as the federal coordinator for the funeral.”

“Our teams are already on the ground in Phoenix and Glendale, working side-by-side with state, local, and federal partners,” Mack said. “Together, we are fully committed to ensuring that these solemn events receive the comprehensive protection and support they require.”

Jose Santiago, public information officer for the Glendale Police Department, told the outlet that he will not be surprised if more than 100,000 people show up to celebrate Kirk’s life.

“He says they expect people to travel in from across the country and begin lining up for the first-come, first-served service by 2 a.m. on Sunday, if not before. The parking lot opens at 7:00 a.m., local time. Camping in the area will not be allowed,” the report states.

The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m. at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with doors opening at 8 a.m.

Attendees are advised to expect enhanced security measures, including a no-bag policy and additional screening that may result in longer wait times. Mourners are encouraged to wear attire in red, white, or blue. Instead of flowers, donations are requested for Turning Point USA.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot on September 10 during a speech at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, as part of his “American Comeback Tour.”

The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has been charged with capital murder and is being held without bail in Utah, where he could face the death penalty if convicted.
