‘Daily Show’ Host Jon Stewart Fears May Also Face the Axe After Stephen Colbert’s Cancellation (VIDEO)

Stephen Colbert’s career as a late-night comedian is over and Jon Stewart fears he may be next on the chopping block.

During a recent episode of The Weekly Show podcast with Stewart, he responded to a listener question about whether he believed Skydance Media might “get rid of The Daily Show” following its merger with Paramount.

Stewart responded:

That’s a good question. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything from them. They haven’t called me and said, ‘Don’t get too comfortable in that office, Stewart.’ But, let me tell you something, I’ve been kicked out of shittier establishments than that. We’ll land on our feet.

I honestly don’t know. I think… I’d like to believe that — without The Daily Show, I don’t know. Comedy Central’s kind of like muzak at this point. I think we’re the only sort of, like, life that exists on a current basis, other than like South Park.”

His remarks come after Colbert’s show was cancelled by CBS parent company Paramount after more than a decade on air.

Among those particularly triggered by Colbert’s firing was fellow late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who took to social media to express his disgust.

“Love you, Stephen,” he wrote. “Fuck you and all your Sheldons CBS.”

According to a report from Puck News, the decision to cancel Colbert’s show was taken because it was costing Paramount $40 million a year. The total production cost runs at over $100 million.

As the two most recognizable faces in late-night comedy, Kimmel and Colbert used their platforms as a propaganda tool for the Democratic Party rather than entertainment shows with any semblance of political neutrality.

Kimmel’s angry response may also reflect anxiety that he could soon be facing cancellation at ABC — a fate even President Trump has publicly predicted.

“I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” Trump wrote after hearing the news. “His talent was even less than his ratings.”

“I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!”

“Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”
