Trump welcomed Meloni warmly as she arrived at the White House.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, a conservative leader who is one of Europe’s most popular leaders, has distanced herself from the hardcore anti-Trump Globalist establishment in the EU.
Today (17), she became the first European head of government to have a face-to-face with US President Donald J. Trump since the announcement – and suspension – of 20% tariffs on European exports.

Trump and Meloni seem to be on good terms. The President greeted Meloni warmly as she arrived, called her a ‘great prime minister’ and mentioned their long friendship.
Associated Press reported:
“While she meets with Trump in her capacity as Italy’s premier, she’s also, in a sense, been “knighted” to represent the European Union at a critical juncture in the trade war.”

Right at the start of the meeting, Meloni invited Trump to make a state visit to Italy.
“Vice President JD Vance is already scheduled to head to Rome later this week and will meet with Meloni while he’s there.
Trump visited Italy during his first term when he attended the 2017 Group of Seven summit in Taormina.”

Trump says he’s in ‘no rush’ to reach any trade deals, said that ‘at a certain point’ deals would come together, and that meanwhile he ‘liked the revenues’ that the tariffs will generate for the US government.
Meloni and France’s Macron: the Italian PM is forging her way separately from the EU Globalist establishment.
BBC reported:
“Trump boasts he’ll have ‘very little problem making a deal with Europe’ because he has ‘something that everybody wants’.”
He is talking about access to the American consumer market.
“US President Donald Trump [said] there will ‘100%’ be an EU tariff deal as he hosts Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the White House”
President Trump on Meloni:
“I do like her very much. She’s a great Prime Minister. I think she’s doing a fantastic job in Italy. We’re very proud of her. I knew her as a very early Prime Minister, and I knew she had great talent. She’s one of the real leaders of the world.” pic.twitter.com/jCnb8ayUV0
