Wendy Williams Taken from Assisted Living Facility by Ambulance After Tossing Desperate ‘Help!’ Note Out Window

Former talk show host Wendy Williams was transported by ambulance from her New York City assisted living facility on Monday, following a distressing plea for help.

The 60-year-old media personality reportedly dropped a handwritten note from her fifth-floor window that read, “Help! Wendy!!”

The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m., prompting a wellness check by the New York Police Department, according to the New York Post.

Officers arrived at the facility in Midtown Manhattan’s Hudson Yards neighborhood, where Williams was described as calm and cooperative.

She was escorted to a waiting ambulance without restraint and transported to Mount Sinai West Hospital for evaluation.

Williams has been residing in the facility’s memory ward while contesting a court-ordered guardianship established in 2022 due to her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

Her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has previously stated that Williams is “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and incapacitated.”

However, Williams disputes this diagnosis, asserting that she is mentally sound and feels unjustly confined.

Williams was first appointed a guardian by a court in 2022 after suffering from lymphedema, Graves’ disease, and alcohol abuse.

In a recent development, a psychiatrist at Lenox Hill Hospital conducted a capacity test, during which Williams reportedly scored 10 out of 10, indicating full mental capacity, according to TMZ.

The results of this evaluation are expected to be reviewed by the judge overseeing her guardianship case.

TMZ reported:

Wendy Williams may be a big step closer to freedom, because a psychiatrist examined her Monday and the results are clear — Wendy’s mental capacity is fully intact.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Wendy scored 10 out of 10 on a psych exam, called a “capacity test.” She was asked 10 questions to determine if she was alert and oriented, and she answered every one correctly.

The results of the test are radically different from the assessment of the guardian, who has filed legal docs saying her condition is getting worse, not better. Wendy was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a diagnosis she disputes. She was not examined Monday to determine if she has been misdiagnosed.
