JD Vance and his young family are preparing for one of life’s most exciting and sometimes unsettling milestones: moving into a new home in a new city.
With the Trump-Vance landslide victory over Karris-Walz, it is time for JD to move wife and children from Ohio to DC full-time.
The Vance’s have three young children who are 7,4 and 2.
As they move away from extended family, the couple hoped to tour their new official residence at the US Naval Observatory prior nauguration Day, Jan. 20 to prepare the historic location for having three young children roaming around.
As of yet, Harris has refused to let them tour their new home to assess what changes and additions might be needed to the home, built in 1893 and refurbished in 1974, to accommodate the young family to keep them safe.

Political strategist Mark Halperin notes that the tour is a “longtime tradition,” adding, “I’m sure that does not sit well with almost anyone.”
CBS News is reporting that Kamala Harris did not invite the Vance family to tour the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory. The tour “is a longtime tradition,” says @MarkHalperin. “I’m sure that does not sit well with almost anyone.” #JDVance #KamalaHarris… pic.twitter.com/q50aJxalVL

Bethany Mandel notes at The New York Post:
Denied a chance to see it in person, Usha Vance reportedly sought to contact Harris staffers for “details including what they would need to childproof” the historic building, Jacobs reported.
It has been decades since a young family has lived in the residence, which was not built with the needs of small children in mind.
It’s Usha’s responsibility to make sure the home is safe for their kids — and she’s being denied the right to ensure that.
Although Harris whined that she didn’t get the same opportunity, without acknowleding she did not have a yound family going through major upheaval, her petulant move reveals much about her character.
CBS reports:
But people close to Harris say she was never afforded an opportunity to visit the home before she was sworn in in 2021. However, she took office during the COVID outbreak, just after the Capitol riot — and Donald Trump had refused to admit he had been defeated in the election.
Advisers to then-Vice President Mike Pence dispute that an invitation was never offered. They say he quietly gave Harris and Emhoff a chance to visit in the waning days of the Trump administration. The invitation came discreetly because Trump resisted accommodating the incoming administration.
