Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent completely humiliated the U.S. Senate’s fake Native American during a hearing and then doubled down hilariously just a few moments later.
Bessent testified before the Senate Banking Committee on Thursday regarding the economy, one day after speaking before the House Financial Services Committee to deliver the annual report from the Financial Stability Oversight Council.
During her questioning, Senator Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren (D-MA) mockingly told Bessent she was going to engage in some “truth-telling” about the Trump economy before trying to pit Bessent against his boss:
“You are one of the President’s top economic advisors, let’s just start with a little truth-telling about the Trump economy one year in,” she began.
“Affordability is the top concern for Americans across the country. Donald Trump has called affordability a hoax, a scam, a con job,” she continued. “You are the Secretary of the Treasury. Is affordability a hoax, a scam, or a con job?”
Bessent calmly fired back at Warren with a devastating reminder: the person responsible for the affordability crisis is Joe Biden, with her at the front and center of it.
Recall that Biden adopted many of Warren’s economic policies while he was in power.
“Senator, it may be a bit nuanced for you, but what the president is referring to is the media saying that the affordability crisis was generated by this administration, when it was you and President Biden who destroyed the buying power of the American people,” Bessent said.
“So there is an affordability crisis — and you were front and center in it.”
A funny moment later occurred when Warren became exasperated over a joke Bessent made. He responded to her in devastating fashion:
“And he made a joke about you, Senator Warren, that I won’t repeat. It got a lot of laughs.”

BESSENT: He said he had reservations.
WARREN: If this was a joke, why not just say so?
BESSENT: It was a joke. And he made a joke about you, Senator Warren, that I won’t repeat. It got a lot of laughs.
