A surprising turn of events has unfolded following a vicious fight at a Texas high school that went viral earlier this week.
As The Gateway Pundit’s Kristinn Taylor reported, a mob of Hays Consolidated School District students in the Austin, Texas suburb of Kyle, savagely beat a man during an anti-ICE class walkout protest on campus Monday.
The video, which was first obtained by Real America’s Voice reporter Brian Glenn, showed the man being swarmed by boys and girls who beat on him, chase him to his pickup truck, throw things at him, and scream vile insults.
One person in the mob was wearing a black shirt with the message, “Kill Your Local Ped*phile.” Another, apparently a fellow teacher who tried to intervene, was wearing a black shirt with the message, “Choose Kindness Always.”

But in a shocking twist, police have arrested the man for allegedly assaulting at least one of the protesters. He has been identified as 45-year-old Chad Michael Watts of Kyle.
Watts has been charged with two counts of assault causing bodily injury.

Buda County police say Watts was the primary aggressor in the physical altercation involving a female high school protester. He is alleged to have shoved and pushed the girl to the ground following a verbal altercation.
The New York Post notes that Buda police previously responded to the scene and conducted interviews with Watts and the female protester. Both suffered minor injuries but declined treatment at the scene.
Cops let Watts leave, “after thorough investigation,” but arrested him the next day.
TGP’s Taylor previously reported there were two arrests made during the protest, but not apparently involving the attack on Watts.
Hays County judge Ruben Becerra, a Democrat, lashed out at Watts’s alleged actions in a scathing statement released on Tuesday.
“No matter one’s political views, an adult bears a clear responsibility to exercise restraint, especially in the presence of children. Violence or intimidation directed at a minor – particularly during a lawful, peaceful demonstration – has no place in a constitutional republic that depends on the rule of law rather than force,” the judge wrote.
