BREAKING: Trump Would-Be Assassin Ryan Routh Sentenced to Life in Prison

Trump would-be assassin Ryan Routh was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday.

AP reported;

A man convicted of trying to assassinate President Donald Trump on a Florida golf course in 2024 was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon pronounced Ryan Routh’s fate in the same Fort Pierce courtroom that erupted into chaos in September when he tried to stab himself shortly after jurors found him guilty on all counts.

Prosecutors had asked for life without parole, saying Routh is unrepentant and has never apologized. A defense attorney brought in for his sentencing asked for 27 years, noting that Routh is already turning 60.

Routh also received a consecutive seven-year sentence for one of his gun convictions.

In September, after a two-week trial, Florida jurors reached a verdict in the federal case against Ryan Routh – guilty on all five federal counts, including attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate, assaulting a federal officer, and other gun charges.

As the verdict was read aloud, Routh, 59, tried to stab himself in the neck with a pen. He tried to commit suicide to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison.

In 2024, federal prosecutors charged Ryan Routh, 59, with attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate after he pushed the muzzle of his rifle through the fence line at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course.

Routh set up a sniper’s nest in the shrubbery outside the perimeter of Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach.

In the area of the tree line from which Routh fled, agents found a Go-Pro, two backpacks, a loaded SKS-style, 7.62×39 caliber rifle with a scope, and a black plastic bag containing food.

One of the backpacks contained ceramic tiles police believe could have been used as a shield/body armor.

In closing statements, after a two-week trial, federal prosecutors said there is ample evidence that Ryan Routh wanted Trump dead.
