(VIDEO) Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent Slams Tim Walz for Inciting Violence to Cover Up the Fraud in MN, SMOKES ABC Host’s Defense of Gun-Wielding Leftist – “I’ve been to a Protest. Guess What, I Didn’t Bring a Gun.”

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Sunday slammed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for inciting violence in Minneapolis and delivered an effortless defense of federal immigration agents in the wake of Saturday’s fatal CBP-involved shooting in Minneapolis.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Border Patrol fatally shot a man, identified as 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti, during a struggle this morning after the suspect pulled his gun on agents.

“The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.  “Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene.”

DHS further alleges, “The suspect also had 2 magazines and no ID—this looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement.”

However, as The Gateway Pundit reported, Tim Walz responded to the incident, making no mention of the gun-wielding individual obstructing law enforcement. Instead, he claimed that Minnesotans, who were rioting at the time, were “peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights,” and he declared that he’s “creating a log of evidence for the future prosecution of ICE agents and officials responsible for this.”

During an appearance on ABC’s This Week with host Jonathan Karl, Bessent called out Walz for “fomenting chaos,” noting that the Governor wouldn’t provide a security detail for the Treasury Secretary when he visited the Minnesota Capitol to investigate billions of dollars in fraud in the state. Walz, he said, is driving the chaos and violence against federal authorities “because there is substantial waste, fraud, and abuse.”

“And again, I am sorry that this gentleman is dead, but he did bring a nine-millimeter semi-automatic weapon with two cartridges to what was supposed to be a peaceful protest,” Walz continued. “I think that there are a lot of paid agitators who are ginning things up, and the governor has not done a good job of tamping this down.”

Bessent: Johnathan, it’s a tragedy when anyone dies, but I can tell you the situation on the ground there is being stirred up by Governor Walz. I was out there two weeks ago. Governor Walz declined to provide a security detail for me to go into the Minnesota Capitol with the State Police. So, he is fomenting chaos because there is substantial waste, fraud, and abuse. My job as Treasury secretary is to investigate that, and I think that this chaos is going out there.

And again, I am sorry that this gentleman is dead, but he did bring a nine-millimeter semi-automatic weapon with two cartridges to what was supposed to be a peaceful protest. I think that there are a lot of paid agitators who are ginning things up, and the governor has not done a good job of tamping this down.

Later in the interview, Bessent destroyed Jonathan Karl for attempting to defend Alex Jeffrey Pretti. “Have you ever gone to a protest, Jonathan?” Bessent asked.

Meanwhile, Karl attempted to defend his Second Amendment right to bear arms. They don’t care about gun rights when some deranged transgender kid, who displayed countless prior warning signs, shoots up their school. But when Trump is President and a federal agent shoots an armed man while he’s committing a crime, they seem to change their tune.

While all Americans have the right to carry a firearm– and they should, even at a protest– it shouldn’t be a debate that Pretti would be alive today had he not violated the law and started a physical altercation with agents.

“‘I’ve been to a protest. Guess what? I didn’t bring a gun,” Bessent said. “I brought a billboard.”

WATCH:

Karl: There’s no evidence that he brandished the gun whatsoever. In fact, it appears that he was a disarmed before he was—

Bessent: But he brought a gun. He brought a gun! Have you ever gone to a protest, Jonathan?

Karl: I mean, we do have a Second Amendment in this country that—

Bessent: Jonathan, have you ever gone to a protest?

Karl: I mean, I’ve, I— no, actually, as a reporter covering it, but that’s about it.

Bessent: Okay, I’ve been to a protest. Guess what? I didn’t bring a gun. I brought a billboard.

Tim Walz has encouraged continued unrest and attacks on law enforcement, stating, “They think they can provoke us into abandoning our values. Well, they’re dead wrong.”
