JUST IN: House Oversight Committee Votes to Charge Clintons with Criminal Contempt For Defying Congressional Subpoenas

The House Oversight Committee on Wednesday voted to hold the Clintons in contempt for defying congressional subpoenas in its Epstein probe.

Nine Democrats joined the Republicans and voted 38-4 to recommend holding Bill Clinton in contempt.

Three Democrats joined the Republicans and voted 28-15-1 to hold Hillary Clinton in contempt.

Politico reported:

Nine Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted with Republicans Wednesday to recommend holding former President Bill Clinton in contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena to testify as part of the panel’s investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Three Democrats sided with Republicans in voting for a separate measure to recommend also holding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt.

Their votes underscore the continued pressure Democrats are under to remain consistent in their calls for transparency and accountability in the Epstein case — no matter the person or the party affiliation or the dire consequences.

The contempt reports now head to the House floor. Assuming the measures advance, the administration could choose to prosecute the former first couple, which could lead to potential jail time for one or both.

House Judiciary Chairman James Comer called the full House to act swiftly to hold the Clintons accountable.

“Republicans and Democrats on the House Oversight Committee acted today to hold former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt of Congress for willfully defying lawful and bipartisan subpoenas,” Comer said after the vote.

“By voting to hold the Clintons in contempt, the Committee sent a clear message: no one is above the law, and justice must be applied equally—regardless of position, pedigree, or prestige. These bipartisan subpoenas for the Clintons were approved unanimously and issued more than five months ago as part of the Committee’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein,” Comer said.

“The Clintons were legally required to appear and instead responded to our good-faith negotiations with defiance, delay, and obstruction,” he said.

The Committee is taking the necessary steps to uphold Congress’s investigative authority and now urges the full House to act swiftly to hold the Clintons accountable,” Comer added.
