John L. Kachelman, Jr.: Political Legacy’s Trainwreck

Old 19th century promotion for the now defunct Whig Party.

Guest post by John L. Kachelman, Jr.

Civilization’s current march through eternity is a regurgitation of civilization’s past. There will be different names, different nations, different vocabulary, but it is the same as yesteryear. The Good Book affirms, “What has been, it is what will be, and what has been done, it is what will be done. So, there is nothing new under the sun.”

This is true on the political stage. The idiomatic “squirrel cage” describes a political party in dissolution’s freefall. The faces of the party ignore failure. Viciously projected are abysmal rantings on opponents. They are self-blinded to the visible good. They focus only on personifying personal hate. Their pretentious concern lasts as long as the cameras roll. In reality they have jumped track and lie in a demolished mess. They have no facts and no workable solution. Their squirrel cage politics are tedious, repetitive, unfulfilling activities and never achieves progress.

The legacy of self-absorbed politicians is historically a trainwreck.

Literary sources have often addressed this fact as fiction depicts reality—inevitable is the downfall of evil. My grandchildren are experts on the “Lord of the Rings.” In the “Return of the King” a scene describes an evil tower. Frodo, on his way to Mordor, to destroy the ring of power (symbolical of the source of evil), is incapacitated by a giant spider. It appears to be the end for Frodo. Everything is pointing to the final triumph of evil. But suddenly the Orcs start to kill each other over Frodo’s shirt. The fight destroys the evil guard and gives passage for Sam to save Frodo. The ring of power is ultimately destroyed; evil is eradicated. The Orcs of our present time are protecting the evil, imprisoning the good but will ultimately be defeated!

Historical sources multiply the instances of political trainwrecks fueled by arrogance. Anarchy, godlessness, and elitism are tragic fruits of the French Revolution, Communism, Democratic Socialism, and whatever other name proponents of evil claim.

An intriguing historical example comes from pre-WW2 Japan. “The League of Blood” was a violent plan to change Japan via murder. The main targets were politicians and rich businessmen. The group was controlled by a lunatic Buddhist named Nissho Inoue. Inoue was convinced that he had been chosen as Japan’s savior, the country needed a spiritual rebirth, and only he was capable of bringing that change. And so, in the words that arrogant radicals today imagine are originally theirs but they parrot from the past, Inoue claimed “Now is the time to bring out the guns.”

Another blunt historical reference to the legacy of political trainwrecks is from “Common Sense.” “Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer…the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer…For were the impulses of conscience clear, uniform, and irresistibly obeyed, man would need no other lawgiver; but…he finds it necessary to surrender up a part of his property to furnish means for the protection…Wherefore, security being the true design and end of government, it unanswerably follows that whatever form thereof appears most likely to ensure it to us, with the least expence and greatest benefit, is preferable to all others.”

Please note the “common sense” that a governing that does not provide real security is intolerable resulting in suffering, miseries and calamities to the citizens.

Historically, the twentieth century is characterized by great advances in humanity. BUT it was replete with instances of cruelty on a massive scale (systematic torture, murder, enslavement of innocent humans, genocide, totalitarianism, and the list is endless). Very dark periods in human history are chronicled because “evil” is real and has often beguiled the elitest POLS.

Rational sources expose the trainwreck of political cunning. One article, When Government Evil Triumphs, Freedom Falls (April 2017) bluntly exposes POLS who have jumped track: “Government is said to be a necessary evil…Their evil begins when they step out of bounds… ‘We the people’ should have learned early on that a government that repeatedly lies, cheats, steals, spies, kills, maims, enslaves, breaks the laws, overreaches its authority, and abuses its power at almost every turn can’t be trusted…We haven’t learned.”

Military genius, political brilliance and lawful jurisprudence safely navigate a nation’s security ONLY if the POLS respect and follow the national Rule of Law (in our nation that is the U.S. Constitution)! Only by this commitment can the POLS safeguard the sacred trust of the citizenry (hence their “oath of office”).

The legacy of self-absorbed politicians is a trainwreck being written today.

J.B. Shurk astutely notes: Do you see how dangerous this kind of demagoguery is?  These are the same people who have told us for a century that man-made global cooling/warming/climate change/extreme weather was going to kill everyone on the planet in the “next few years” unless we allow communist government officials to control all economic activity and relinquish all modern conveniences for Paleolithic subsistence living.  These are the same people who claim that men can magically become women.  These are the same people who covered up COVID’s likely release from a Chinese bioweapons lab, insisted that experimental mRNA injections are “safe and effective vaccines,” bankrupted small businesses for no reason, locked people in their homes, and censored scientific debate.

Add to this list of trainwreck political legacy and governmental overreach, the weaponization of the DOJ under Biden, BHO, and HRC. Add to the DEMS trainwreck political legacy those they imprisoned because of protests against the 2020 election fraud in AZ, MI and other States! Add to this failed legacy the inhumanity foisted upon the J6, the notorious embezzlement of Federal funds, the “blind eye” to immigration’s evils, the perceived impotence of the DOJ, the DEMS applause of George Floyd/Renee Good and their bitter hatred toward Tina Peters. And the reader can continue adding to this list the political trainwreck of the DEMS.

The smoldering legacy of today’s (D) politicians has a reckoning.

And…let the RINOS and Deep State Bureaucrats be warned! They have hitched their legacy to the DEMS and are now a juggernaut approaching a smoldering ruin!

The DEMS should reflect upon the Whigs.

Political institutions are not permanent. Let the DEMS/RINOS/DEEP STATE accept this as absolute truth! History records the collapse of major political parties in the United States.

There is an intriguing precedent discovered in the trainwreck of the Whig party. The Whigs was one of two major parties. In 1853, a Whig president occupied the White House. But two years later the Whig party was extinct. The underlying causes for the Whig’s trainwreck were preventable. Fundamental divisions were highlighted and stirred by radical voices. Issues included taxation, trade policy, banking, infrastructure spending and slavery. The radicals fought fiercely. Ultimately, the radicals gained control and demolished the party. The election was a disaster for the Whigs. The “postmortem” was ignored—the radicals became even more vicious. The Republican party emerged as the most popular political party in the North. The collapse of the Whig Party in the 1850s created national chaos, and ultimately civil war.

The political legacy left behind that history cannot revise.

Consider the cost of political ambition. What legacy is left when ambition becomes a stampede of personal lust? What legacy is left when one cannot accept limits prescribed by Law and morality? What legacy is left when previous victories convince one that the next victory is automatic, perceived enemies are the same, and commoners will be easily controlled. Hubris and overreach blinds one to the operational reality. What legacy is left when the blindness of success distorts one’s strategic vision and leads to a lost contact with operational reality. What legacy is left when one’s political objectives exceed capability and inability fuels criminality. What legacy is left when confidence becomes overconfidence and the guardrails of civility are viewed as “fluid.” What legacy is left when POLS do not know when to stop? What legacy is left when POLS cannot conceive of failure? What legacy is left when POLS match selfish means to the desired end utilizing devilish “doublespeak”? What legacy befalls POLS when they fail to understand the opponent’s will or the sustainability of the campaign they have charted?

The political trainwreck of the DEMS is a rerun of the Whigs. The control by radicals, the internal divisions, the complicity of party members—all factors are the same. It is another example of the self-serving political Elite arrogantly telling its constituents to “eat cake.” And, astonishingly those braded by “D” are rushing pell-mell toward their trainwreck extinction!

To each reader this query is posed: What legacy will history assign to you? Is it a blind devotion to a political party’s attack points? Is it a reasoned behavior consistent with the national Rule of Law? As the answer is pondered, consider Inspiration’s counsel:

Proverbs 27:24 “For riches are not forever, nor does a crown endure to all generations.”

Habakkuk 1:11 “They will be held guilty; they whose strength is their god.”

Ecclesiastes 7:8 “The end of a matter is better than its beginning.”

Psalm 145:4 “One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.”

One can also cite Emerson: “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
