Attorney General Pam Bondi has confirmed that the Department of Justice is actively probing what she describes as a decade-long pattern of government weaponization and “lawfare” under the Obama and Biden administrations.
Bondi has directed U.S. Attorneys and federal agents to treat these actions as an “ongoing criminal conspiracy,” potentially allowing prosecutors to bypass statutes of limitations and hold high-ranking officials accountable for alleged election interference and civil rights violations.
Bondi confirmed the investigation orders in an interview with Just The News, calling the alleged abuses a “ten-year stain on the country committed by high-ranking officials against the American people.”
“At my direction, our U.S. Attorneys and federal agents are actively investigating instances of government weaponization nationwide,” Bondi told the outlet. “This is a ten-year stain on the country committed by high-ranking officials against the American people.”
She emphasized that the probe focuses on evidence showing the FBI and DOJ shielded Democrats like Hunter Biden and Hillary Clinton from scrutiny while aggressively targeting conservatives and President Donald Trump with excessive legal actions.
“This evidence illustrates that the FBI shielded political figures like Hunter Biden and Hillary Clinton while pursuing conservatives for their beliefs, using legal process and operations that were excessive, instead of protecting Americans from public safety threats posed by an open border and violent crime,” she said.
Bondi added, “They went so far as to serve search warrants that their own Department and law enforcement officials believed were excessive.”
Bondi praised the Trump administration’s DOJ and FBI for releasing an “unprecedented number of documents to Congress about government weaponization,” which she claims has “laid the predicate for a conspiracy case.”
A significant portion of the investigation is reportedly being conducted in Florida, tied to the controversial 2022 FBI raid on President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.
“This Department of Justice takes government weaponization seriously. That means protecting civil liberties, preventing election interference, and holding bad actors accountable,” Bondi said. “No one is above the law, even if they think they are.”
FBI Director Kash Patel has supported framing these issues as an ongoing conspiracy, drawing parallels to organized crime cases where statutes of limitations do not apply if the conspiracy continues.
Just The News editor-in-chief John Solomon noted that charging under “criminal conspiracy” could enable prosecutions for actions dating back years, including the origins of the Russia collusion investigation.
The announcement comes amid broader efforts by the Trump administration to address abuses of power by previous Democrat administrations.
