Per CNN:
Mass shootings are common in South Africa, which has the continent’s largest economy but also one of the world’s highest murder rates.
Murder hit a 20-year high last year; someone was killed in the country roughly every 20 minutes, according to quarterly police crime statistics from 2024.
Per CBS, this is the second mass shooting this month in South Africa, with another incident occurring on December 6 in a bar near the administrative capital city of Pretoria. At least 14 were wounded and 11 killed, including three children, ages 3,12, and 16.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump banned South Africa from attending the 2026 G20 Summit in Miami, Florida. This comes after the United States did not send top officials to the annual summit in Johannesburg this year, citing the “horrific Human Rights Abuses” endured by the White Afrikaner population in the world’s most violent country.
Trump further ended all payments and subsidies to South Africa after South African President Cyril Ramaphosa lashed out, accusing Trump of “bullying” South Africa and claiming that his third-world country is “equal” to the United States.
