White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt went off on the open borders policies that led to two National Guardsmen being shot last week in a horrific attack in Washington, DC, and slammed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz over the massive $1 billion fraud scheme by Somali aliens during a press briefing on Monday.
Leavitt dedicated her opening remarks to the illegal immigration crisis and its effects, specifically highlighting last week’s attack and lambasting radical left Democrats for allowing foreign nationals to infiltrate our country.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, two National Guard members were shot near the White House on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, in an ambush attack by an Afghan national. Both were rushed to the hospital, and 20-year-old Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom tragically succumbed to her injuries on Thanksgiving Day.
Air Force Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The shooter, 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, previously entered the country unvetted under Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome program in 2021 after Biden’s failed withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan. Leavitt went off on the reckless policies of the Biden Administration, which left 13 American service members dead in Afghanistan and later killed the two National Guardsmen before tearing into Tim Walz for allowing Somali aliens to defraud US taxpayers to the tune of $1 billion.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, 70 members of the Somali community in Minnesota were involved in stealing $250 million in COVID funds that were intended to feed children. Millions of dollars were stolen from American taxpayers and sent overseas to Somalia, and 80% of the money has not been recovered.
Seven defendants were tried in connection with the scheme on charges related to stealing more than $40 million in taxpayer funds, and five were found guilty. However, the FBI is still investigating an attempt by a Somali woman to bribe one of the jurors with $120,000 in cash.
But the fraud goes deeper, with multiple schemes like this over the last five years.
Leavitt highlighted the New York Times report, which revealed that ” 59 people have been convicted in those schemes so far, and that more than $1 billion in taxpayers’ money has been stolen in three plots they are investigating.”
As The Gateway Pundit reported on Monday, employees from the Minnesota Department of Human Services have accused the far-left governor of orchestrating a sweeping cover-up to shield the massive fraud ring from detection. Walz not only ignored early warnings but also actively retaliated against agency employees who sounded the alarm, according to employees.
Walz, however, claimed on Sunday that his state just “attracts criminals” because it does such a good job of being “generous,” “prosperous,” and “well-run.”

Leavitt slammed the Minnesota Governor, whom President Trump recently called “seriously retarded,” for allowing this to happen in his state.

Leavitt: For too long, American presidents supported self-destruction— self-destructive immigration policies that allowed foreigners, who outright hate our country and have no interest in assimilating, into our culture. They’ve allowed these individuals to flood peaceful American communities. This disastrous approach has drained our welfare program, driven up the cost of housing, suppressed wages, and jeopardized the safety of law-abiding American citizens.
In fact, according to a new bombshell report from the New York Times, Somalian migrants in Minnesota have defrauded nearly $1 billion in taxpayer funded benefits under Democrat Governor Walz’s leadership. President Trump is putting an end to this dangerous America-last approach. His position is rooted in common sense. In the wake of last week’s atrocity, it is more important than ever to finish carrying out the President’s mass deportation operation. America cannot allow millions upon millions of unvetted illegal aliens to be rewarded with Amnesty after they broke our nation’s laws to come here.
They must go back to their home countries. It is also essential to immediately address the massive fraud and corruption that has been going on for decades in other aspects of our immigration system, most notably when it comes to asylum claims. Millions of people who have come here under false pretenses, and told blatant lies, now enjoy temporary legal status. President Trump is ending this scam as well, and I would point out that the Democrats have tried to block this administration from doing so at every turn with lawsuit after lawsuit.
The hard truth is that even when it comes to our legal immigration system, past presidents have failed to ensure that all prospective citizens love America, will add value and contribute to our communities, and will assimilate into our culture. Leaders have a duty to defend and advance the interests of their own people, not foreign nationals. Leaders also have a duty to preserve the integrity and character of our nation’s national identity.
That is why President Trump is more committed than ever to fully restoring American sovereignty by keeping our borders secure, removing all illegal alien invaders, and rebuilding a legal immigration system that makes sense and benefits our country. President Trump has no higher responsibility than to defend our homeland and our people, and he will never waver in doing so.
