Democrats in Washington are now revitalizing a dangerous, decades-old strategy: attacking law enforcement officers who carry out laws Congress itself passed.
That pattern was on full display when Rep. Al Green delivered an emotional, rambling speech accusing ICE officers of “abusing women and children” and calling their enforcement actions “unconscionable.”
His comments weren’t just intended to be misleading—they were part of a broader effort by Democrats to delegitimize immigration enforcement entirely.
During the hearing, Green began by claiming that witnessing immigration officers—he repeatedly referred to them as the “constabulary”—carrying out their legal duties “breaks your heart.”
He described ICE agents as if they were criminals operating “under the color of law,” insisting that they “abuse citizens” and even non-citizens.
His statements had no evidence behind them, yet he delivered them as though ICE itself were the problem rather than the illegal immigration crisis created by the Biden-Democrat agenda.
Instead of acknowledging the record numbers of border crossings or the countless violent criminals who have been arrested through ICE detainer programs, Green shifted focus to emotion.
He told the witnesses—Reverend Black, Mr. Brown, and Mr. Shapiro—that they too were “traumatized,” claiming he had “tears” in his eyes.
But sympathy theatrics do not solve the ongoing drug crisis, nor do they help the families harmed by sanctuary city policies.
Most revealing was Green’s open call for political activism against law enforcement.
He demanded “protestation, legislation, litigation,” and insisted activists should be “on the steps of the Capitol” pressuring Congress.
He framed ICE enforcement as an assault on democracy, while suggesting that Republicans had “allowed one person to dominate the House and Senate,” ignoring that Democrats have spent years enabling executive overreach and undermining due process in immigration courts.
Green repeatedly cited the upcoming election as a moment of “redemption,” urging voters to “redeem” America from a Congress that, in his view, allows immigration laws to be enforced.
He invoked November like a political altar call, signaling to activists that the goal is not reform—it is the dismantling of the nation’s immigration enforcement structure.
While Democrats wage these ideological crusades, Republicans continue to support ICE officers who risk their safety daily.
They remove violent offenders, stop human traffickers, and protect American communities—jobs Democrats now describe as “unthinkable” simply because they contradict their political narrative.
This hearing showed the contrast clearly. Democrats deliver emotional speeches attacking officers who enforce the law.
Republicans stand with the men and women who protect the country.
