The Gateway Pundit reported on pro-abortion extremist Brianna Rivers’ attack on pro-life reporter Savannah Craven Antao in Harlem last spring.

Despite being punched repeatedly in the face, and in yet another glaring example of the radical left’s two-tiered justice system, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg dismissed all charges against the attacker.

What started as a felony assault charge was downgraded to a mere misdemeanor and then quietly dropped entirely, leaving victims of leftist violence without recourse while criminals roam free.

Now, Antao has filed a lawsuit to address Bragg’s miscarriage of justice.

In April 2025, Pro-life activist Savannah Craven Antao was doing man-on-the-street interviews when she was viciously attacked in broad daylight by an unhinged pro-abortion radical simply for speaking out in defense of the unborn.

During the video project titled “What Does Planned Parenthood Do? Perception vs. Reality?”, while in a discussion with Brianna Rivers, the interaction was initially polite. When Rivers realised Antao was pro-life, her tone shifted dramatically.

Without warning, Rivers suddenly snapped and began to violently punch Savannah in the face—twice—before attempting to attack her again. Thankfully, Antao’s husband stepped in to stop the attack.

Savannah was rushed to the hospital, where she received stitches for her injuries.

The New York Post reported that the NYPD arrested Rivers and she was charged with one count of second-degree assault for her actions.

Bragg’s office downgraded the charges and then acknowledged a ‘filing error’ but refused to bring new charges.

Per the Post:

Rivers was initially charged with second-degree assault, but the case was dismissed in July after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office failed to turn over discovery on time. The lawsuit criticizes Bragg’s office for downgrading the charge to a misdemeanor and later allowing it to lapse.

In September, Bragg’s office issued a statement acknowledging a filing error and apologizing to Craven Antao.

“Every victim deserves their day in court, and our office has reached out to apologize to Ms. Craven Antao for the unacceptable error of missing the discovery deadline,” a spokesperson said. “We are taking immediate internal steps in light of this case.”

According to Thomas More Society attorneys who are representing Antao, Bragg’s office doubled down on its refusal to prosecute her assailant even after being presented with evidence showing that prosecution was still legally possible.

Thomas More Society attorneys argued that the DA could still bring charges if the case was refiled with an upgraded felony charge, given that it was the original charge upon Rivers’ arrest and is subject to an extended discovery deadline.

TMS sent a detailed legal letter to Bragg’s office urging them to act immediately to hold Rivers accountable by filing felony assault and a hate crime charge, but they were rejected.

The DA’s office responded, “We have carefully reviewed the research you presented but have concluded that continued prosecution is not possible in these circumstances.”

Christopher Ferrara, Senior Counsel at Thomas More Society and attorney for Ms. Antao, replied, “This is unacceptable.”

“We believe the DA’s office had an opportunity handed to them to fix their mistake and deliver justice to a young woman who was assaulted in broad daylight, on camera, for peacefully expressing her pro-life beliefs. Their own letter admits the system failed her, nor does the letter actually state that our legal analysis about refiling a felony charge was incorrect. Instead, the DA’s office reveals that it simply will not prosecute the violent attacker of a peaceful pro-life advocate.”

“What else are we to conclude when the DA’s apology was followed by a refusal to correct the very mistake they apologized for? Does anyone doubt that the result would have been different if Rivers were a peaceful pro-abortion advocate and Savannah a violent pro-life attacker?”

The Thomas More Society then announced that it will pursue civil action against Brianna Rivers “to ensure that Savannah Craven Antao receives the justice Alvin Bragg refused to deliver.”

Ferrara concluded,Savannah was the victim of a violent crime caught on video simply because of her willingness to profess her faith-based, pro-life beliefs about the dignity of the preborn.”

“Alvin Bragg’s office will not do its job, but we will do our job.”
