Peace negotiations appear to have proceeded under the radar.
Against the backdrop of the massive corruption scandal that’s rocking Ukraine, multiple reported activities suggest a surprising push for renewed peace talks with Russia.

One of the people mentioned in the Energy Kickback scandal is the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, who is reported to have fled Ukraine – first to Turkey and also to the US.
Eurasia Daily reported:
“The head of the NSDC, ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov is currently in the United States with relatives and wants to become an FBI witness in order to receive US protection instead of severe punishment. This was stated in his telegram channel by the opposition Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shariy.”
However, Umerov has been seen today in Turkey as Zelensky arrived there.

But today, reports arise that the US and Russia are working on ‘a secret 28-point peace plan inspired by the ceasefire deal in Gaza’.
The Telegraph reported:
“The proposal covers a ceasefire, security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe and future US relations with both Russia and Ukraine.
The exact breakdown of the 28 points is not clear, and questions remain on long-standing issues such as territorial control in eastern Ukraine.”

Russia will want Kiev forces to withdraw from whatever it still controls in the Donbas region in exchange for an end to the fighting.
“Steve Witkoff, Mr. Trump’s peace envoy, is leading negotiations with Moscow, who dispatched Kirill Dmitriev, a Russian envoy, to Miami last month.
The White House said army officials were also being included in peace talks in the hope that Moscow would respond better to military officials.”

In the meantime, Kiev regime leader Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have met in Ankara today (19), as the Ukrainian president said he wanted to ‘intensify’ peace negotiations.
BBC reported:
“’Bringing the end of the war closer with all our might is Ukraine’s top priority’, Zelensky said, adding that efforts would also focus on resuming prisoner exchanges.
[…] Special envoy Steve Witkoff was rumored to take part in the talks, but hours before the meeting was meant to take place his attendance had not been confirmed.”

Even with all this activity, Russia has lowered the expectations surrounding the reports of the US peace plan for Ukraine.
Reuters reported:
“When asked directly if it was true, as reported by Axios, that a conceptual discussion had led to new proposals on peace being put down on paper, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said:
‘No. So far there are no innovations on this that can be reported to you’.”
