Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is doing nothing to tamp down the speculation that he is considering challenging Vice President JD Vance for the 2028 GOP nomination for President.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Axios dropped an eye-catching article today about how Cruz was poised to run for president in 2028. Such a decision would almost certainly put him in direct competition with Vice-President JD Vance.

This led many conservatives to ask why he would embark on a seemingly hopeless cause, considering Vance’s widespread popularity among the GOP base.

According to Axios, the reason is personal. The outlet alleged that Cruz would run on a neoconservative foreign policy and anti-Tucker Carlson platform, in contrast to Vance’s more noninterventionist approach.

“We have a responsibility to speak out even when it’s uncomfortable,” Cruz told Axios. “When voices in our own movement push dangerous and misguided ideas, we can’t look the other way. ”

“I won’t hesitate to call out those who peddle destructive, vile rhetoric and threaten our principles and our future. Silence in the face of recklessness is not an option.”

As TGP readers are aware, Carlson and Cruz have an ongoing feud going back to their infamous interview earlier this year. During their talk, Cruz became livid over what he perceived as gotcha questions from Carlson regarding Iran and completely snapped.

Another part of Cruz’s purported run would be centered around an unapologetic defense of Israel. Younger conservatives tend to adopt a more skeptical approach to policies related to the Jewish nation.

But this has endeared him to donors aligned with Nikki Haley, who also want an old-school interventionist foreign policy approach.

Cruz chuckled as he responded to the report on Fox News, trying to dismiss Axios’ piece.

But notice how he dodges when host Harris Faulkner questions him.

CRUZ: You know, reporters are going to write headlines that get clicks and get eyeballs.

I got a job; it’s representing 31 million Texas…And I’ll tell you, the wins we are getting are historic.

That is certainly not a no, and perhaps a telling sign that he is indeed looking at a run.

While Cruz certainly has a right to throw his hat in the ring, challenging Vance will only split the GOP and aid the radical left as they look to seize back power in America.
