WATCH LIVE: House Debates on Bill to Reopen the Government, VOTE IMMINENT

The House of Representatives is set to vote imminently on the Senate-passed continuing resolution to fund and reopen the government.

Following the vote, the bill, which is expected to pass, will head to President Trump’s desk for his signature.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed the Democrats in her opening remarks at a press briefing earlier on Wednesday, describing the reason for the longest shutdown in history as “pure partisan politics” by Democrats.

She further announced that “President Trump looks forward to finally ending this devastating Democrat shutdown with his signature, and we hope that signing will take place later tonight.”

The shutdown is now in its 43rd day after Democrats spent the last 6 weeks fighting for illegal aliens to receive taxpayer-funded benefits and trying to hurt the Trump Administration’s record and booming economy.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, after 15 attempts, the Senate finally passed a bill to fund the government through January 30, 2026, last night by a vote of 60-40. This comes after eight Senate Democrats crossed the aisle to invoke cloture on the continuing resolution to fund the government during a rare weekend session on Sunday, 40 days into the shutdown.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) expressed optimism earlier that the bill will pass in the House today.

Per CNN:

Speaker Mike Johnson said Republicans are “very optimistic” about the tally ahead of the House’s vote on a funding bill that would reopen the federal government.

“I just want to say that we’re very optimistic about the vote tally tonight we think this is going to happen,” he told reporters Wednesday morning.

Johnson reiterated that – after an extended recess from Washington – House lawmakers will be working on an “aggressive” calendar for the Republicans’ legislative agenda.

“We’re ready to get back to our legislative agenda. We have a very aggressive calendar for the remainder of this year. There’ll be some long days and nights here, some long working weeks, but we will get this thing back on track,” he said

The House has begun debate on the bill and is expected to vote on it by 6 pm ET.
