With the security situation deteriorated to the point where 21 top politicians have been assassinated during her term, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has suffered a scare yesterday (4), as she interacted with citizens in Mexico City.
While Sheinbaum spoke with people in the capital’s historic district, a seemingly intoxicated man approached her from behind.
The man groped her and tried to kiss her before a government official intervened.
The New York Post reported:
“In a video circulating widely on social platforms, the man appeared to lean in for a kiss and touch the president’s body with his hands.
She gently pushed his hands away, maintaining a stiff smile as she turned to face him.
She could be heard to say in part, ‘Don’t worry’.”

“It was an unnerving scene in a week when Sheinbaum has repeatedly had to address questions about political violence following the public assassination of a mayor in western Michoacan state.”
This comes 3 days after the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manso, was assassinated during a celebration of the ‘Day of the Dead’.
Manso was known for his fight against the Jalisco New Generation cartel.
His murder led to violent protests and accusations against Sheinbaum that range from inaction to collusion with the drug Cartels.
