ABC Caves: Jimmy Kimmel to Return After Mere Six-Day Suspension Amid Charlie Kirk Assassination Outrage

Disgraced late-night host Jimmy Kimmel delivers a monologue on ABC before being yanked off the air following his false and inflammatory comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

ABC has announced the swift return of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel to his show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” just six days after suspending him for false comments linking the assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk to the MAGA movement.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot during a speech at Utah Valley University on September 10.

The man arrested for the assassination, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has been described by family as a leftist who was living with his transgender boyfriend.

Kimmel wasted no time exploiting the national mourning for political points. On September 15, during his monologue, Kimmel lied to tie the suspected killer to the MAGA movement.

The backlash was swift and intense, with FCC Chairman Brendan Carr stepping in to pressure ABC to take action against the host’s false claims.

The Hollywood reporter explained, “On Wednesday, FCC Chair Brendan Carr threatened ABC’s affiliate licenses over the comment. Affiliate groups Nexstar — which is seeking FCC approval for an upcoming merger — and Sinclair told ABC they would pre-empt Kimmel’s show (Nexstar insisted in a subsequent statement that their decision was made independent of Carr’s comments, but the timing made that tough to believe).”

ABC announced an indefinite suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on September 17.

The move sparked massive protest by Hollywood elites and prominent Democrats and politicians.

On Monday, the 22nd, ABC announced that he would be returning to air on Tuesday.

The network also claimed his statements were “ill-timed,” ignoring that they were entirely false.

“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country.  It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.  We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
