Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) is now raising the alarm about a crisis Washington refuses to confront: the tidal wave of left-wing violence sweeping across America.
From Antifa firebombing courthouses, to pro-Hamas mobs shutting down airports, to leftist agitators stalking conservative justices at their homes, the violence is well-documented.
Yet Washington elites remain silent, or worse, they celebrate these extremists as “mostly peaceful.”
Collins announced that it is time for Congress to establish a House Select Committee on Left-Wing Violence, a panel dedicated to investigating the coordinated attacks, political intimidation, and terroristic tactics being deployed by far-left activists.
If Democrats had no problem launching endless investigations into January 6th, then Congress has an even greater responsibility to expose the widespread campaign of political violence coming from the Left.
“We need a House Select Committee on left wing violence,” Collins wrote on X.

The proposed Select Committee would have broad powers, including subpoena authority, to call in witnesses, expose funding networks, and dig into the web of dark money fueling far-left extremists.
Here are several examples of left-wing violence against conservatives:
September 2016: A Trump supporter wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat was surrounded and beaten by a leftist mob. He was thrown to the ground, kicked, and pursued until he reached police for safety.
June 2017: A left-wing gunman and Bernie Sanders volunteer, James T. Hodgkinson, opened fire on Republican lawmakers during a morning baseball practice. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was critically wounded and several others (including two Capitol Police officers) were injured in this politically motivated attack
August 2017: During a planned rally by a pro-Trump group (Patriot Prayer), hundreds of Antifa protesters in black masks rioted and attacked the few conservative attendees who showed up after the event was canceled. They chased, punched, and hit Trump supporters and tried to steal their phones and cameras, while police largely stood down. (This came after months of Antifa violence in Berkeley and elsewhere aimed at conservative gatherings.
November 2017: Physical assault on Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) while mowing his lawn in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The attacker tackled him from behind, causing six broken ribs, lung lacerations, and subsequent pneumonia requiring surgery.
Rene Boucher (age 59), Paul’s neighbor, who admitted the assault (initially over a landscaping dispute but with reported political undertones). Sentenced to additional prison time in 2020
July 2018: A 16-year-old boy wearing a MAGA hat at a Whataburger was harassed by a 30-year-old liberal man, Kino Jimenez. The assailant threw a drink in the teen’s face and ripped off his MAGA cap, cursing at him and his friends. (Jimenez was later identified, arrested, and fired from his job over the incident.
Sep 2018: Attempted stabbing of a GOP candidate. At a local fall festival, 35-year-old Farzad Fazeli — reportedly yelling about President Trump — tried to stab Republican congressional candidate Rudy Peters at his campaign booth before being subdued. Peters escaped serious harm.
October 2018: Punching of Republican Minnesota House candidate Shane Mekeland at a restaurant in St. George Township, Minnesota. The attacker struck him after saying, “You f—ing people don’t give a s— about the middle class,” causing a concussion.
Richard Schmit (age 53), who pleaded guilty to felony assault. Linked to anti-Republican sentiment.
June 2019: Conservative journalist Andy Ngo was brutally attacked by Antifa militants while covering dueling protests downtown. Several masked assailants beat him and doused him with “milkshakes” laced with quick-drying cement, causing a brain bleed that required hospitalization.
Nov 2019: A 14-year-old student was beaten by a group of classmates on a school bus, allegedly for wearing a Trump hat to school. The boy was punched and kicked by multiple students, suffering injuries that required hospital treatment. Earlier that day the same student had been harassed and had milk poured on him due to his MAGA hat, according to his parents’ account.
Feb 2020: Gregory Timm, 27, drove a van through a Republican voter registration tent in a Walmart parking lot, nearly hitting the volunteers inside. After plowing through the GOP tent (which was displaying Trump campaign signs), the driver stopped to flip off the Trump supporters before speeding away. He was later arrested and charged by police.
Aug 28, 2020: After President Trump’s RNC nomination speech at the White House, Senator Rand Paul and his wife were assaulted by a hostile BLM-affiliated mob on the street. A crowd of over 100 protesters encircled them, yelling threats; one assailant shoved a police officer into Sen. Paul, nearly knocking him down.
Aug 29, 2020: During clashes following a pro-Trump vehicle caravan, Aaron “Jay” Danielson – a member of the right-wing Patriot Prayer group – was shot to death in downtown Portland. He was visibly identifiable by a Patriot Prayer hat and a Blue Lives Matter patch.
Authorities later named a self-described Antifa supporter, Michael Reinoehl, as the suspect in this point-blank political killing. Reinoehl was himself killed in a confrontation with law enforcement a few days later, after bragging about the shooting.
Sep 8, 2021: While campaigning during the California recall election, Republican Larry Elder was attacked by a group of white liberal protesters in Venice Beach.
A woman in a gorilla mask hurled an egg that nearly hit Elder, and other activists physically assaulted his campaign staffer, punching the aide in the street. Elder was escorted to a vehicle by his security as the hostile crowd continued to taunt and chase his team.
June 2022: Attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh near his Maryland home. The suspect was armed with a pistol, knife, zip ties, and other tools, motivated by anger over a leaked abortion ruling draft and a school shooting.
Nicholas Roske (age 26), who pleaded guilty in 2025. He called 911 to turn himself in, citing left-leaning views on abortion and gun control.
June 2022: In the wake of the Dobbs draft leak, the radical pro-abortion cell “Jane’s Revenge” firebombed a pro-life pregnancy center (CompassCare) in Buffalo. The building was hit with Molotov cocktails and vandalized with graffiti, causing at least $150,000 in damage.
Shortly after, Jane’s Revenge issued an open threat declaring it “open season” on pro-life facilities – warning that future attacks “may not be so easily cleaned up” compared to fire and graffiti.
July 2022: Then a candidate for New York governor – was attacked on stage at a campaign rally. A man identified as David Jakubonis rushed the stage wielding a sharp object (a keychain weapon) and tackled Zeldin, attempting to stab him. Zeldin and others wrestled the attacker to the ground; fortunately Zeldin was not injured and even finished his speech afterward.
January 2023: Shooting during protests against the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center (“Cop City”). An activist fired at a Georgia State Patrol trooper, wounding him, amid violent clashes involving rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, and fireworks thrown at police and construction sites.
Manuel Teran (age 26), a left-wing activist occupying the site; killed by police return fire. Part of broader Antifa-linked protests with 23 arrests, mostly out-of-state.
April 2023: Assault on swimmer and conservative speaker Riley Gaines at San Francisco State University. Protesters rushed her during a talk on women’s sports, assaulted her, turned off lights, and held her barricaded in a room for hours while demanding “ransom” and shouting threats like “let us at her.”
Left-wing protesters (trans-rights activists); no specific arrests mentioned, but Gaines was escorted out by police after three hours.
July 2024: Shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Thomas Matthew Crooks (age 20) fired at former President Donald Trump, grazing his ear, killing one attendee (Corey Comperatore), and wounding two others.
Sep 2024: Attempted shooting at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ryan Wesley Routh (age 58) aimed a rifle through a fence at Trump while he was golfing.
