Former First Lady Kim Keon-hee, currently imprisoned at the Seoul Southern Detention Center, has reportedly requested outpatient treatment due to deteriorating health conditions.

According to the Ministry of Justice and others on September 3, Kim’s side recently asked the detention center to “allow her to receive outpatient treatment.”

Kim’s representatives explained, “(At present, her) lowest blood pressure is 35 and the highest is 70,” adding that she is “showing presyncope symptoms such as dizziness and collapsing.”

Here, “presyncope” refers to symptoms such as dizziness or temporary vision blackout caused by a reduction in cerebral blood flow.

In response to the request, the detention center reportedly conducted a blood test on Kim in order to determine the necessity of outpatient treatment. Her attorney stated, “On the 2nd, the detention center measured her blood pressure twice, and due to the possibility of organ failure, they also conducted a blood test. Once the blood test results come out, we will know whether outpatient treatment will be approved.”

Kim, who was arrested on August 12, had been summoned a total of five times before her indictment on the 29th of the same month. However, on three of those occasions, she submitted medical excuses and postponed the investigation schedule due to health reasons.

Meanwhile, lawyer Shin Pyung, known as a mentor to former President Yoon Suk-yeol, recently shared on Facebook after visiting Kim that “she had become so emaciated that only a bony frame was left,” informing the public of her poor health condition.

Kim had also been hospitalized at Asan Medical Center in June for depression and hyperventilation, and was discharged in a wheelchair after 11 days.
