WATCH: Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov Trolls Ukraine by Wearing Provocative USSR Sweatshirt at Trump-Putin Summit (VIDEO)

In a bold display amid tense negotiations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived at a summit between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin wearing a sweatshirt emblazoned with “CCCP,” the Cyrillic abbreviation for the Soviet Union.

The move is being seen as a direct troll aimed at Ukraine, and a prominent assertion of Russia’s ambitions to reclaim former Soviet territories.

Lavrov was seen sporting the shirt in Anchorage, Alaska, ahead of Trump and Putin’s meeting to discuss ending Russia’s ongoing war with Ukraine.

The key figure in Putin’s inner circle arrived wearing the gray USSR sweatshirt partially covered by a black puffer vest. Photos and videos captured the “CCCP” lettering very clearly.

Russian media outlet RT praised the wardrobe choice on social media, calling the move “PRICELESS.”

Putin has famously called the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 “the greatest geopolitical disaster of the century.”

Notably, Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, were not invited, as Russia insisted.

Trump’s goal is to broker a cease-fire and set up a future peace summit involving himself, Putin, and Zelensky.

Lavrov told reporters outside the meeting that he was not making “any predictions” about what the outcome may be.

“We have solid arguments, we have our own clear and comprehensible position,” Lavrov said. “We will present it here.”

The New York Post reports:

Further symbolism was on display during a special flight from Moscow to Anchorage, where Russian journalists were served Chicken Kyiv, chief Putin propagandist and RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan posted to social media.

It was unclear if the choice of meal — which is standard fare on Russian airlines because it can be easily frozen and reheated — was intentional.
