Dana White Announces the White House Will Host a UFC Cage Fight

Dana White has announced that the White House will be hosting an Ultimate Fighting Championship cage fight.

White said plans are underway for the event to take place on the South Lawn.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal about the possibility of a fight at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, White said, “That is going to happen.”

CBS News reports, “White said he spoke with President Donald Trump Monday night about the event and plans to meet with Mr. Trump and Ivanka Trump at the end of this month to finalize details and review venue renderings. A source familiar with the planning confirmed that the White House expected the event to happen.”

“When he called me and asked me to do it, he said, ‘I want Ivanka in the middle of this,’” White said. “So Ivanka reached out to me, and her and I started talking about the possibilities, where it would be and, you know, I put together all the renderings.”

The report added that the event will take place on Independence Day next year.

No potential fighters for the matches have been announced at this time.

Trump floated the idea of a fight at the White House during a rally last month.

“We’re going to have a UFC fight, think of this, on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there. We’re going to build a little — we’re not, Dana’s going to do it. Dana’s great. One of a kind,” Trump said at a “Salute to America” event in Iowa.

Trump said it would be a “championship fight” and that the grounds could hold a crowd of 25,000 people.

White and Trump have been friends for years, and the president is a regular at the events. He always draws massive applause from fans in the arenas as he enters.
