Chinese-Made F-7 Jet from Bangladesh Air Force Crashes into Dhaka School, At Least 19 Dead

On Monday, a Chinese-made Bangladesh Air Force jet crashed into a school in the capital of Dhaka, leaving at least 19 people dead and more than 100+ injured.

A Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into a local school in Dhaka causing multiple casualties as reported by various sources on social media.

AP reports:

According to the military and a fire official, the Chinese-made F-7 BGI aircraft crashed into the campus of Milestone School and College, in the Uttara neighborhood, in the afternoon as students were attending classes.

The Fire Service and Civil Defense said that at least 19 people, mostly students, died and another 116 were rescued with injuries. A significant number sustained burn injuries.

The military said the jet took off from Bangladesh Air Force Base A.K. Khandaker in Dhaka’s Kurmitola neighborhood at 1:06 p.m. local time and crashed soon after, catching fire immediately. It said the aircraft “experienced a technical malfunction,” but that a high-level committee within the Air Force would conduct an investigation to determine the cause.

“I express my deep grief and sorrow over the tragic incident of casualties caused by the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BJI training aircraft at the Milestone School and College campus in the Diabari area of the capital today.”

“The loss suffered by the Air Force, the students, parents, teachers, and staff of Milestone School and College, as well as others affected by this accident, is irreparable. This is a moment of profound pain for the nation.”

“I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and direct all concerned authorities, including hospitals, to address the situation with the utmost priority.”

“The government will take necessary measures to investigate the cause of the accident and ensure all forms of assistance.”
