Teodoro Dominguez Rodriguez, a 41-year-old illegal alien and house painter, had just walked out of a courtroom a free man—thanks to a dismissed assault charge—when he was immediately intercepted by plainclothes ICE officers.

The operation, captured on video and obtained by The Daily Progress, shows Rodriguez being calmly handcuffed and escorted into an unmarked van by Homeland Security personnel.

In the video, ICE officers are seen acting professionally as they approach Rodriguez.

Despite this, leftist agitators attempted to interfere, demanding a warrant, and a woman physically blocked the agent.

Another woman even tried to interfere with the arrest. The lead agent rebuffed her, warning, “Do not touch me or impede me in my lawful duties… There is a crime for you to do so.”

What followed was a predictable meltdown from the left.

Nicholas Reppucci, head of the Charlottesville Office of the Public Defender, who represented Rodriguez, called the raid “highly alarming” and a “public policy mistake.”

He accused ICE of “taking over a state agency with federal force,” claiming the agents failed to identify themselves or produce warrants. “I’ve been here since 1999, and I have not seen anything like this before,” Reppucci told The Daily Progress.

Let’s be clear: ICE didn’t “storm” a courtroom. They waited until the proceedings were over and acted within the bounds of their jurisdiction.

Still, Democrats and left-wing immigration activists are crying foul.

According to the news outlet, a second man, also a house painter and illegal alien, was reportedly detained while trying to pay off a drunk driving fine.

The Albemarle County Police Department tried to wash its hands of the incident.

“Per our existing policy and practice, the Albemarle County Police Department does not inquire into the immigration status of victims or witnesses,” police department spokeswoman Logan Bogert told The Daily Progress.

“While ACPD collaborates with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and ICE on significant cases such as homicides, sexual assaults, and child exploitation investigations, we do not have the legal authority to enforce federal immigration laws.”
