Italian PM Giorgia Meloni distances herself from warmongering, Trump-hating EU leaders.
Conservative Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni is not your typical EU leader: she has long been a Trump ally, and while she appears alongside the Euro-Globalists warmongering non-stop, she always shows her disagreements for the world to see.
Yesterday (18), Meloni cautioned her European partners against escalating a trade dispute with the US by levying retaliatory tariffs – a position that is unpopular with EU Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen and many unpopular, Trump-hating heads of state.
She also urged the ‘Western allies’ to preserve the ties between Europe and the United States, while she disavowed any suggestion that the old continent needed to establish ‘an independent security umbrella’.
Reuters reported:
“’It is a simple fact of reality that it is not possible to envision a lasting security guarantee by dividing Europe and the United States’, she told parliament ahead of a summit of EU leaders later this week.”
UK PM Starmer is trying to gather the ‘coalition of the willing’ to help Ukraine and prolong the war, but Meloni seems unwilling.
After the ‘Trump tornado’ hit the old continent, he forced Ukraine to seek peace and imposed hefty tariffs on European steel and aluminum in a bid to change the massive trade deficit that the US has with the EU ‘allies’.
The European Union decided to impose counter-tariffs on $28 billion of US goods starting next month.
Meloni has nevertheless alerted to the folly of this move, stating Italy wants a negotiated deal with America.
“’I am not certain that responding to tariffs with more tariffs is necessarily a good deal’, she said, warning of the potential for inflationary pressures and economic slowdown.
‘For this reason, I believe Italy’s efforts should be directed toward seeking common-sense solutions between the United States and Europe, guided more by logic than by instinct’, she said.”
Meloni is uninterested in Macron’s ‘nuclear umbrella’.
Meloni has enduring ties with Trump, whom she visited for talks at Mar-a-Lago and was later the only European leader present at his inauguration.
Now, Britain and France are trying to send a European peacekeeping force into Ukraine as peacekeepers, a complete waste of time since Russia has repeatedly stated that it does not accept EU troops fulfilling this role.
Meloni has repeatedly rejected the plan, ruling out Italy’s participation in Macron and Starmer’s fool’s errand.
“’The deployment of Italian troops to Ukraine has never been on the agenda, just as we believe that the deployment of European troops proposed by France and the United Kingdom is a very complex, risky, and ineffective option’, she said.”
