Some Canadians have come up with an unusual idea for punishing Americans for Trump’s trade war.
The idea involves blocking American’s access to the Canadian-owned Pornhub, which remains the most visited website in the entire country.
It was first proposed by comedian Matthew Puzhitsky, who posted an Instagram video describing the website as “Canada’s nuclear weapon.”
“If Canada could ban Pornhub in the states, we win the trade war,” Puzhitsky told The New York Post.
”That’s it. There is no trade war.”

The idea has now snowballed into a full-blown petition on Change.org, which viewers are urged to sign to help put pressure on the Canadian government to take action.
The petition states:
The ongoing tariff dispute between Canada and the United States has impacted various sectors of the economy, and we’re proposing a new approach to these proceedings.
This petition urges the Canadian Federal government to enact legislation restricting Pornhub’s services, primarily adult content streaming, from being accessed within the United States.
Pornhub, a Canada-based company, is a leading player in the global adult industry, with a significant user base in the United States.
As per a report, American users constitute nearly 40% of Pornhub’s traffic (source: Pornhub’s Annual Insights Report, 2020).
This potential ban could send a strong message and provoke introspection of the current tariff measures in place.
We ask the Canadian Parliament to take this action as a peaceful yet powerful response in this dispute.
The livelihoods of many depend on the resolution of this conflict.
By signing this petition, you are not only advocating for fair trade practices but also drawing attention to the power dynamics in the digital age. It’s time to raise our voices for change.
However, the petition has yet to gain much traction, attracting just a few hundred signatories as of the time of writing.
PornHub is already facing many difficulties in the U.S. markets, as many states have implemented laws requiring the website to verify the age of users before they are able to access its content.
Back in October, the adult film industry even launched a campaign against Donald Trump and his conservative allies over fears that Republicans are planning to widen their crackdown against the industry.
