Haltbakk Bunkers, one of Norway’s largest marine fuel suppliers, has officially announced it will stop providing fuel to American military forces and vessels in Norwegian ports.
This fuel boycott came directly in response to a high-profile clash between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
President Trump, accompanied by Vice President J.D. Vance, chastised Zelensky for his ingratitude toward U.S. aid and his reluctance to engage in peace negotiations with Russia.
Trump accused Zelensky of “gambling with World War Three” and questioned his commitment to diplomacy. The heated exchange culminated in Trump abruptly ending the meeting.
Now, Haltbakk Bunkers declared it would cease supplying fuel to American military forces and ships in Norwegian ports.
This decision was made public on the company’s Facebook page (in English) and confirmed by owner Gunnar Gran in an interview with Norwegian business outlet Kystens Næringsliv.
Gran stated that “not a liter” of fuel will be delivered to U.S. forces “until Trump is finished,” referring to Donald Trump’s term as U.S. president.
The company wrote:
We have today been witnesses to the biggest shitshow ever presented “live on tv” by the current American president and his vice president.
Huge credit to the president of Ukraine restraining himself and for keeping calm even though USA put on a backstabbing tv show. It made us sick. Short and sweet. As a result, we have decided to immediate STOP as fuel provider to American forces in Norway and their ships calling Norwegian ports.
“No Fuel to Americans!”
We encourage all Norwegians and Europeans to follow our example. SLAVA UKRAINA
The owner revealed the company supplied roughly 3 million liters of fuel to U.S. forces in 2024 – a revenue loss Haltbakk is willing to bear as “moral support” for Ukraine.
Gran believes the boycott won’t critically hinder U.S. operations (“won’t capsize anyone”), noting American NATO vessels often have alternative suppliers or their own fuel ships, but he hopes the stance sends a clear message.
