Over the weekend, during remarks at a Holocaust Memorial Day event in Ireland, Irish President Michael D. Higgins hijacked the event to attack Israel and spew leftist talking points about Gaza.

Higgins attended the event despite requests that he not make an appearance.
Dana Erlich, Ambassador of Israel to Ireland, called for Higgins not to attend, saying Higgins had helped nurture an “anti-Israeli atmosphere” in Ireland.
When a pregnant Jewish woman and a granddaughter of Holocaust survivors stood during his remarks and silently turned their backs on him, they were forcibly removed from the event, one of them violently dragged outside.

This is far from the first time Higgins has come under fire for siding with monsters.
In July, he wrote a congratulatory letter he wrote to the new president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
The July 11, 2024 letter, which has been criticized by Irish politicians for its tone when engaging with the murderous regime, was shared widely on social media, and Higgins does not seem to enjoy the blowback.
Rather than addressing Iran’s brutality against their own citizens and their flagrant funding of international terrorism, the congenial letter stressed the need for stability, cooperation, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
The letter also pledged to open an Irish embassy in Iran, expresses “condolences” for the death of Raisi, the butcher, and congratulates Pezeshkian on his “election.”
Ireland’s anti-Semitic posture has been increasingly exposed since the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks.
In December, The Gateway Pundit reported that Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Sa’ar, announced that Israel’s embassy in Ireland will close due to the “extreme anti-Israel policy of the Irish government.”
In May, Israel recalled its ambassador after Ireland became one of three EU countries that said they would unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state.
