The free ride for California Governor Gavin Newsom and his fellow Golden State Democrats may be about to come to an end courtesy of President Trump.

As Jim Hoft reported earlier, Trump flew to Asheville, North Carolina this morning to see the damage of Hurricane Helene. The state was abandoned by the previous Democrat regime.

From there, Trump will head to Los Angeles to observe the damage caused by the historic fires in the nation’s second-most populous city. As TGP readers know, these fires were exacerbated by inexcusable Democrat state and local government negligence, particularly refusing to fill critical aquifers.

Trump is well aware of the critical failures and has vowed to hold the state accountable if it wants to receive wildfire aid. But during a press conference with reporters at the Asheville airport in Fletcher, North Carolina, Trump announced some very important news that will seemingly impact federal aid to California in general, not just wildfire assistance.

A reporter asked Trump during the press conference if he would pull federal funding to Los Angeles because of its sanctuary city policy. At this moment, Trump lays his two commonsense conditions for LA and and the rest of the Golden State to receive federal assistance.

1) Voter ID
2) Let the water flow

“I want to see two things in Los Angeles,” Trump began. “Voter ID, so the people have a chance to vote, and I want to see the water be released and have a chance to come down into Los Angeles and throughout the state.”

“After that, I will be the greatest president California has ever seen,” he added. “I want the water to come down to Los Angeles and also go out to all the barren and dry farmland.”

Trump then reiterated his two conditions to clarify he wanted these conditions for all of California and not just LA. He also elaborated more on what he wanted to see from a potential voter ID law.

“So I want two things,” Trump said. “Voter ID for the people of California. Right now, you don’t have Voter Identification; you want to have proof of citizenship, and ideally, you want one-day voting.”

“And I want the water to be released,” he continued. “And they’ll get a lot of help from the U.S.”
